FogOn Support & User Guide

Connect your iPhone to a compatible BMW G30/F90 through ENET, then switch the rear fog light on or off from FogOn.

BMW · BDC · ENET

Before you start

  • A compatible BMW G30 or F90 with a supported BDC configuration. Compatibility can vary by model year and vehicle software.
  • An ENET cable with an OBD-II connector and Ethernet (RJ45) plug.
  • A compatible Ethernet adapter for your iPhone. USB-C iPhones can use a USB-C-to-Ethernet adapter. Lightning iPhones may need a Lightning-to-USB adapter, a USB Ethernet adapter and external power.
  • Park the vehicle safely, apply the parking brake and make sure the vehicle electronics are awake.

Connect your iPhone with ENET

  1. Plug the ENET cable into the vehicle's OBD-II port, usually located in the driver's footwell.
  2. Connect the cable's Ethernet end to your iPhone's compatible Ethernet adapter, then connect the adapter to your iPhone.
  3. On the iPhone, temporarily turn Wi-Fi and Cellular Data off while using a direct ENET connection, to avoid network-routing conflicts.
  4. Open iOS Settings and check Ethernet. Wait for the connection to appear and for an IP address to be assigned. Do not enter a random static IP address.
  5. Open FogOn and wait for the status indicator to show CONNECTED.

Switch the rear fog light

  1. Keep the vehicle stationary while using the app.
  2. Tap FOG to switch the rear fog light on or off.
  3. When finished, tap DISCONNECT in FogOn before unplugging the ENET cable or Ethernet adapter.

The available function depends on the vehicle's equipment, BDC configuration and software version.

Troubleshooting

  • FogOn stays disconnected: check that the vehicle is awake, the OBD-II plug is fully seated, and the Ethernet adapter supports a wired network connection.
  • No Ethernet connection appears in iOS: reconnect the adapter, check its power requirements, and try a known-compatible Ethernet adapter or cable.
  • An IP address is not assigned: confirm that the vehicle electronics are on and the ENET cable is connected firmly at both ends. Avoid guessing network settings.
  • Connection still fails: close FogOn, reconnect the cable, reopen the app and try again. Some vehicle/BDC software configurations may not be supported.

Safety and compatibility

Use FogOn only with a vehicle you own or are authorized to operate, and only while safely parked. Do not use the app while driving. FogOn is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by BMW AG.
